Review of blue bags recycling

The District Council’s Cabinet member responsible for recycling and waste will be presenting her report on the blue bags system this month.

This will be to Lichfield District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee on the 15th of September.

Just another minute’s read …

Whilst there may be legal issues with the supplier of the blue bags for paper and card that might mean some details are not available the bigger questions such as:

Why choose bags and not inserts into the Blue bins?

Why the blue bins could not be for paper and cardboard rather than bags?

Why can’t I choose which to have?

Why not boxes – there will surely be a time when bottles will have to be separate too?

These fundamental questions need to be addressed as they have been some of the questions residents have been asking. I hope it will be a detailed review that will give residents confidence in the recycling system and not just a report on how it is has now “settled down”.
